Finally got the TRF 201 to a race track in Sydney. This is St Ives, home of the 1989 World Titles. They recently created this new layout, which I found to be very flowing. TRF was pretty much stock out of the box, except the aluminium rear anti-squat (3 degrees). I had a good day, since I hadn't race for 15-years! Took 4 races to get into the groove. At the end of the day, I qualified 4th in the B final (2wd Stock 17.5T) and managed to win the 2nd of two B Final's. I was one lap off the top A main runners. I consider the result promising as the car was significantly under geared (28/79), when should be more like (33/72). The front tires were also incorrect for the dusty conditions. The Proline scrubs were ok as long as I was on the racing 'blue' groove, but were poor in dusty sections. JC's Ribs were what eveyone else was using.
I also found getting used to the double and quad jumps difficult! We never had those in the 1990's! I'm going to have to play with spring rates and shock oils get this car launching and landing well. I found I needed to keep the throttle nailed to stop it from nose diving.
Looking forward to running again in a couple of weeks.
