It's cheaper to replace on wear and it's less brittle so won't break that easy on ahigh-speed crash or bad landing of a jump. The flex will also help in taking some of the impact that would go into other parts with a stiffer chassis.
Oh and on a side note: since it's an insulator it's a bit safer around your electronics and batteries; including the dust that's generated during building and modifications.
