you can run analogue servos with spekturm and type R transmitters fine. I have been using them for the past few years!!
The only beneifit of the digital that i understood was that you would get a slightly higher response time with the type R transmitter if it was in digital mode. But you can de-activate that to use analogue servos. (imagine the futaba system works in a similar way)
i'm guessing that an analogue servo wouldn't work at all if fed a digital signal? as opposed to working for a while and then packing up?
