I'm going to agree with you, the hubs at the front are not the SP hubs, and the outdrives look like the plastic ones you get with the RTR.
With the plastic outdrives, I'm sure the car won't cope well with higher power motors (I think), I remember when I upgraded my RTR to the SP I had to replace the plastic outdrives because they'd already started to split.
I'm pretty sure as well that I read somewhere that although the carbon chassis looks nice, it's not as rigid as the standard chassis and can effect performance.
All that aside, would be a decent little car for a beginner or someone running a stock (or there abouts) motor.
