Even dustier on 2nd attempt
I think the 1st attempt is best, 2nd version looks too stiff as each side isn't independent with your brace.
However, my attempt will look something like the 2nd attempt except nothing linking between the two sides so they are independent, just 1/2inch wide straight strip of 4mm thick aluminium per side. The front over the brace will be countersunk so no clearance issues for the shell.... im just waiting for the material and motivation to arrive, hopefully they'll come together
