An update on the situation. The dam cat got used to the sonic deterrent and carried on crapping right in front of it after just 3 days. The seller just gave me a full refund so there are some decent sellers on ebay.
After a week of it ignoring the sonic gizmo I took the advice of earlier posts and got some Silent Roar lion manure pellets. Put them in boiling water in a watering can and watered all the grass and borders. The cat came over for its morning routine stopped dead looked round like it was going to be mugged and ran like hell back over the fence. It has not been near my garden once since not even for a short cut home. I dont get them pissing on my car or garage and front door now and just to keep them scared I recorded a few lion and tiger roars on my phone which I play now and again just to let them know something big is out there.
