You won't see many Thunder Tiger's at the track. That doesn't mean it is a bad car, it just means that setup advice and spare parts will be harder to come by.

The Ansmann's are more common, they have made more of an effort to be part of the racing community.

As far as the electrics go, a lot of the very basic sensorless systems have quite a notchy throttle feel. Most racers end up replacing them quite soon. I think this notchiness gets in the way of learning (or re-learning) to drive so would suggest a brushed car, but I am in the minority, hence the ever decreasing range of brushed RTRs!

The best advice is to get down to the local club and see what is being run. I've seen a few of the budget 4wd's run (LRP Blast, Kyosho Lazer Readyset) and they are generally OK, maybe the odd part will need upgrading as you go along. But that wouldn't be much good if 2wd is the most popular class at the club! In 2wd, the Associated B4.1 is the obvious RTR choice.
