Another thing to consider when spending on good headphones is whether your source is powerful enough to power them adequately? There is nothing worse than an underpowered amp with really good speakers, so it's the same principle. You can get mini battery powered amps specifically for such applications which may be something you would need to look into.

I would recommend AVForums, there are some very knowledgeable people on there who would be happy to advise. I'd imagine the question has been asked before anyway though. For what it's worth, my cans at home are Beyerdynamic and I've always been pleased with the quality of those - although these particular ones aren't noise cancelling.
