Just when I thought Id got to the bottom of it.
OK, cheers Tom - thats good to know.
However, I feel like Im back to square one with my motor issues, as I had hoped that the difference in the internal ratio would explain my heat problems with the motor now.
(they only seemed to appear once I upgraded to the steel idler shafts and gears)
I'll order a few different spurs and pinions and fool around to see if I can find something that works.

Im new to all this and have found it very confusing, so its really helpful to have experienced guys like yourselves to talk to over with.
