That's a MkV. Mk4 has the fishbowl headlights and the MkVI is the latest one with the slit-eye headlights and the corporate grill.
Can't help with a selection as I've never wanted to own one and so have never done any research on them. My post above is based on friends and work colleagues who have had some of these issues, and trying to persuade my son not to buy one! He has a Honda Civic (2007 on an 07 plate) and is absolutely delighted with it. HTH
