I have saddles because the buggies use saddles. As said they can be put side by side and used in the same location as a stick. From my understanding, there is no real difference in performance, other than the saddles are usable in locations that stick batteries are not.
That said, if you compare prices I have found that the saddle equivalent is typically more expensive.
