Apologies for hijacking the thread a little but.....

I am just starting out with my 2wd (Vega RB5) having raced a B44.1 all summer.

I notice that the gear ratios for 2wd tend to be a little higher than for 4wd. Why is this?

With the B44.1 I was running the kit 81t spur with a 20t pinion.

With 2wd I see the spur is 78t and pinions of 27t are being quoted.

Is this what I should be running in my RB5 outdoor on astro with a 7.5t motor?

And more importantly, can someone please elxplain why this is so I actually understand it rather than just following suit...?

Thanks!
