If you are just knocking about the ansmann are2 is a tough chassis. It has universals, bearings and oil shocks, parts are cheap and easy to come across and it's built like a brick. It is a shaft drive and fitting a 5t brushless will be bit ott and you might get a bit of torque steer..
The Xray is a much better overall car, but parts for the t1 are not as easy to get and more expensive. Again if you are running a 5t you will break more things so the car will need parts.
I'm not a fan of associated tc's never seen one beat the tamiyas, xrays or schumachers at the clubs I've raced at so can't comment on that.
You can get Schumacher mi2's for cheap on eBay (about £40 can get you a car with a decent amount of spares)
