No, tyre choice is open. You can use as many or as few sets as you wish.

I would recommend having at least 3 sets (6 if your budget will stretch!) that you rotate between runs (6 runs a day). Otherwise the additive softens them up too much and they turn to mush. They can be left to dry for a couple of weeks and then re-used at the next meeting. You'll generally get anywhere from 3-12 runs out of a set of tyres, depending on wear and what your budget allows. The guys that have been doing it a while usually have a box of tyres of various compounds and diameter, as they can be used as a good tuning aid on the otherwise simple cars.
