Please don't over simplify this. I have worked in many of the shops that were looted, and i literally mean shops that were looted not just for the same company.
I had to watch on TV as a shop in Hackney which i was responsible until very recently moving to work in the city, got broken into with the staff present inside. They were terrified and certainly not involved beyond that fact they locked themselves into the back of the shop crying there eyes out.

What do you mean by 'they'? Non of the staff i employed across a number of these business were involved they arrived to work the day after to start shifts as they wopuld have done any other day.

I also don't appreciate having my working choice devalued in such an off hand manner, those of us that work in retail are often treated poorly as it is. We work hard for little pay at times of day that many don't have to. We are subject to abuse and physical violence as part of our employment daily. I have myself been told not to phone the police, by the police themselves when people have commited crimanal damage on a premises i was responsible for as it takes up there time unnessarily.

If you have any dignity i would appreciate that you retract or clarify your point.
