I know people have there own opinions with geared diffs, but I ran the TA05 Spec-R geared diffs in the front and rear of my 511 today attending the TORCH Club Summer Series championship and I was very impressed with the results.
The track itself is a large, very high grip and bumpy astro turf layout.
The diffs drop straight into the 511 with a 0.2mm shim to take up the slop on the outdrive bearings. I used the HPI shims from the TC.
3000wt in the rear diff and 15000wt in the front. No leaks or issues with diffs all day. Completed practice, 4x heats and 3x finals without fault.
Used Tamiya TC driveshaft blades (3mm). Good news, I had no wear on the front blades all day, with the rears taking a little more wear. I think this is due to a lot more movement of the rear suspension, hence movement for the blades to cope with. They lasted 2-3 runs before I chose to replace them before breaking or completely wearing out.
Car seemed to accelerate harder through the corners, especially under power. Drive was much quicker.
Considering the high grip and bumpy track, diffs performed without fault and consistent performance throughout day. Very happy and will now start to experiment with diff oil wt's to enhance performance.
This is only my experience with the diffs, but impressed so far !
