Hello , cougar is a top car especially on astro were it's ace.
Longer chassis option is not absolutly necessary for astro but it's a plus . Car is easy with it.
6.5 motor is way too powerfull, 8.5 geared 25x76 is great with Speedpassion V3. great top speed and acceleration.
On astro weight kit is not necessary ,just add a little weight ( 25-30 gr ) under the nose to keep it on the ground under acceleration.
We always run with rear shocks on the back ( personnal choice )
Front 35 oil - original piston - 4.5 spring
rear 40 oil - 5 hole piston - 2.5 spring.
Important think is tyre choice , depending on track and weather condition.
Mini spike silver all around is top for the morning with humidity on the track , than yellow mini spike . Front choice depending on how you feel the steering - from stagg( used or new ) - cut stagg ( handmade) to the new cut stagg if really on need of big steering.
