Sounds to me just like the real thing! If you cane the motor in your real Le Mans car, it will not last the distance. Take a look at their lap times in the race compared to qualifying. Even on the last laps of a stint with low fuel, they are not near the qually times.
If you thrash the car mercilessly during the race, it seems you can expect to do damage to a motor. John has done a good job of giving us cars that are scale in every respect!
