Depends if your friend is running stick or saddles as well!
I run a Monkey and have upgraded to losi shocks, bearings and turnbuckles and it works out slightly cheaper than the X2C
and IMO the losi shocks feel sooo much better to Ansmann threaded shocks that I had fitted to my X-Pro (for me anyway)
