If its got a slipper clutch (which did exist for the Bosscat, but was rare in the day) I'd say yes, with a mild motor. Brushless has a lot more torque than brushed, and without the drivetrain saving feature of a slipper you'll be shreading those irreplacable belts if you aren't carefull.
I've run a similar vintage Cougar and am still running an RC10 and RC10T with brushless systems. 2wds got slippers much earlier, and the gear drive Associateds also cope much better than the belt drive Cougar did.
A bigger problem you'll find is fitting cells in. They've grow a bit over the years, and even NiMH's are a lot bigger than the old NiCad's the Bosscat was designed for. Lipos will be a real push.
