unless the lipo is fully or overcharged i doubt puncturing it would set it on fire, have seen one from a plane virtually torn in half and all it did was smoke a bit. i have actually shot an old pack that had puffed up to see what the reaction would be, it just sat there looking sad and downhearted at being sent to its salt water grave. all this again comes down to the same old thing, abuse. if its treated sensibly it wont cause any problem. i still say that balance charging is far more important than it is given credit, each cell is individually limited and correctly charged, the only way you are going to kill the pack is either by charging at too high a rate, which should only damage the cells not fire them up as they are limited to the voltage by the balance circuitry which will stop the charge before things go too far, or death by failure of the charger. if you are balance charging any good charger will stop you charging if you set the voltage wrong as well, too high a voltage is your most likely way to ignite the pack, other than short circuit which to be honest is more likely to happen in storage or in the car.
i like the idea of the felt pen and writing lipo sack, stick some paper and bubble wrap on the outside of the box and you wouldnt know any difference....bar size of course lol
