I'm not sure I'd say it's wasted money, Lee got a very good result at the Reedy race, think that was with the 502 wasn't it!?
The team guys will run the car they feel is most likely to win I guess, and at the moment looks like that's the 511, doesn't mean Tamiya are going back to belts though, who knows what they'll make next!
After all, don't know about you guys, but I never expected a 502 shaft drive in the first place
Anyway, for now I'm sticking with the 502, may change my mind though!
