I think my RS is to much a BOOST TURBO touring ESC than a smooth 2wd offroad thingy.
motor SP9.5 with zippy's
also have SP V3 7.5 but it's too fast.

Really? I find my RS Pros way smoother than my old Sphere and GTB were. Didn't tried others ESC though.
For more smoothness I would try :
- Dual mode
- Current limiting takes care of low-end punch. Even 5% is noticeable and you don't need a laptop to modify it
- smaller pinion or lower timing advance for less overall power
- less min throttle
- some expo on the throttle curve (transmitter or ESC)
