there is not one formula to determine what wing size you need this is something you need to decide depending on the track and conditions..... you need to work out how fast the car is... what cornering forces it produces in relation to its weight. then you work out how much downforce a certain wing creates (as they are different depending on the shape) and then you can add this extra weight (downforce) to your coefficient of friction equations and then you can decide which wing you want to run....
so basically you need a way of testing your wings....

this is just an idea but if you can set up something to blow wind over the car at a certain speed (the average speed of the car) then you could try different wings and put scales under the car and the change in weight will give you your downforce.....

i do wish id done my final year project on a 1/10th scale buggy....
