Reducing the stagger will work to a point, and no issues for me with it.
However, with a combination of factors ....
a) 2WD & 4WD running same day,
b) small-ish field (for now!),
c) small-ish track, and...
d) a full range of driver abilities from absolute beginners to top-end F1s
you're always going to get heats in with a broad mix of abilities, and therefore lots of "lapping" going on..... which also impacts drivers at the back of the pack, as they are forever pulling over, rather than having a smooth run.
e.g. in my heats on Sunday, I was the one doing the lapping, however from 10th on the grid in the A, I was the one pulling over every 2 seconds !
The venue is great to have though - maybe Dianne can indicate at what point (ie driver numbers v cost) it becomes a decision to look at having the second hall (one for pitting, one for the track).
As for the kids, it is indeed great to see. My lad (nearly 4) is definitely not even fit to spectate, never mind race !! ....but my daughter (nearly 7) is keen to take Isaac & co on
