If its as long as Jim says it is it needs a cut but then NOT raced on, it will be all yellow and dead in the bottom. Ideally it wants a good cut, let it get a bit of sun (!!) and rain (easy) and cut it again before racing. Otherwise I think it will be badly damaged.
