That's all down to your driving style imo.
If you like the back end to swing round into the corners (almost handbrake stylee) then a rear motor is perfect (although they can be smooth too), but a mid-motor is alot harder to do this with - they prefer it much smoother.
Coming from touring cars you might be better suited to a mid more than rear...?
