For some reason I can't explain, the inner part of the tube that normally holds these 2 screws has broken off in my car.

I'm baffled as to how this can happen. On the outside there's nothing to be seen, but on the inside it's broken?
Me and Dave were talking about this on sunday after i had taken a chunk out my chassis (Well it was a head on collision with an X6 and I wasn't the one going the wrong way round the track! )

We reckon the screws that go through the top plate into the chassis are too short, so in a collision they just rip out the side. I ran all day with a slightly cracked chassis and a longer screw through the top plate into what was left of that part of the chassis and it was fine.

What dave has done is essentially used a longer screw to create a strengthening bar all the way through. We will see if it survives in the capabable hands Demolition man ash tonight!!
