find yourself some 6mm or maybe slightly thicker nylon sheet for those front arms, really strong and durable, will absorb impact as it flexes slightly, threads well too, not easiest to cut or machine but the extra time is worth it as i doubt you would need to make any spares! oh and it takes dye really well.
