By chance i'd originally soldered the short one to the black wire on the male end & a long one to the black wire on the female end & the short one wouldn't click into place & therefore when i connected the blocks together the short one got pushed back out. I'd aslo (by chance) done the same with the red wires & again the shorter of the 2 connectors popped out when i connected the block up.

Had i used all 4 short (19.5mm) connectors, none of them would have clicked home in either block & when joining the blocks together i'm sure all 4 connectors would have just popped back out of the blocks.

You'd think it would say something regarding different length connectors in the supplied instruction leaflet ??
