shame there isn't a meeting this weekend. I could of brought my laptop and hooked it up to let you know exactly what's causing it.
basically both of the suggestions do similar jobs. measure the content of air passing them and let the computer decide how to adjust itself. if either is reading off the ECU will be trying to correct a problem that isn't there.
just so you know the MAF sensor is the quicker and cheaper to replace, but the part generally costs more.
