Atsushi Hara's guide to building the HB Cyclone many years ago showed him rubbing CA activator spray (sprayed onto kitchen roll) over all the edges, then starting from the top squeeze drops of CA down the edge so that it then feeds down (and seals on contact with the pre-sealed edges).
Chaz Godwin used to use a fat black sharpie to colour the edges black first which looked good.
