Interference is usually caused by the motor interfering with the receiver. Move the receiver and antenna as far as possible from the motor. Also keep all of the power wires away from the receiver and antenna, and don't coil any wires up on or near the receiver.

2.4Ghz basically eliminates interference so is a very good idea. If you're running 2.4Ghz and your car still does something strange, you then know its something like a faulty servo or ESC.
