Fabs, the outdrives were the same as well I thought from what I remember, I had both at the time although it was a fair while ago! I had a TA05MS too so maybe I am thinking of that!
Both, surely you can actually run belt or shaft and have virtually the same diff except for the pulley/gear, you simply change the outer part of that part to either fit against the pinion coming in, or a belt over it. The outdrives/screw/thrust/balls/plates etc could all be identical. Don't get me wrong, I doubt they will be, put t's easily doable...
Maybe I really am dumb, but having the same diff but different pulley's sounds quite sensible to do in terms of economies of scale etc to me!
