I've seen the RC8T and 8ight T take some serious bad landings and not much between them, so losimadness you must really beat your truggys.
The hyper 7 is a good basic platform a good basher, but it's dated and for the money I spent getting my current hyper sorted out with CNC hubs, towers and a full set of CVDs I could've picked up a losi 8ight 1.0 roller.
My money would be the losi with a go engine if I wasn't going truggy this year
I'll agree that brushless is the way forward. £100 for a pair of 5s which last 2+ years or £25 a gallon for fuel that can last as little as 2 weekends and my motor/esc cost the same a race spec engine. Also I prefer the power delivery of the electric.
If you do want to convert then the newer buggies have some really nice kits.
