OK, so I'm fairly satisfied with the results, and certainly, things have been learnt.
Lessons learnt...
The Candy Green - I put it on lightly, and in several coats (even though I wasn't spraying much of it) and it seemed to have a really significant impact on the liquid mask. Where the CG had touched the mask, I found myself peeling off a candy green, ultra thin, mask. This impact alot of areas of the shell and led to me having to re-cut some mask lines.... end result - imperfection, 2 hours extra on the job and cramp in my legs (I stood up for 6 hours doing it) whilst asleep. The CG was (apart from the chrome) the only solvent based paint I used in the scheme, which must have played a part. All said though - it's a lovely looking colour.
Black & White - Came out of my airbrush quicker than 'owt else. - and as a consequence I have some very minor bleeding.
Equipment - I have a £20 airbrush and a nice compressor. No regulator or filter & I suspect I need those things if I wish to spray regularly and well ? Do I need an airbrush that has the ability to spray fine lines?? ... I think so. Advice welcome.
Good stuff...
Chrome - Amazing stuff. So reflective and shiny. Awesome stuff.
Owner - He loves it. That's what really counts.
Liquid Mask - Apart from the issues with the CG described above - I love this stuff. How I masked shells with tape etc I will never know.
Questions...
Trim lines - If I want say a 3mm line around an area in chrome, how do people go about cutting it out? Just by hand? If so - some of the jobs I've seen on here astound me.... or maybe I should drink less?
