Hi mate, I have the Orion Vortex combo with a 6000kv motor to run in my 1:16th Tamiya. I have been reliably informed that this motor will be plenty although I do have the 7500kv just in case!!
With the motors rated in kv, the higher the faster so I think that you should be ok with something similar to what I have in mine. Hope this helps a bit, I am sure someone will be along in a bit to give a more detailed explanation.
