You can airbrush with a spare tire and a pressure regulator attached to the valve stem, so really anything that supplies a consistent, clean PSI and doesn't wake the neighbors is a good compressor.

I use a 3 gal pancake compressor from Porter Cable that is used mostly by roofers for nail guns. A water trap and a pressure regulator and I can spray all day.



You don't need anything fancy unless you are in an apartment and want something über quiet and tiny.
