I wouldn't travel any where near 100 miles for a club meeting.
I currently travel about 35 miles/50 minutes each way for a club night, and that is approaching my limit.
For nationals (which I have never entered outside of one that was held 15 miles from my home) you obviously have to be prepared to travel. For regional level meetings, I would maybe travel 2 hours each way on a Sunday.
