Secondly you all can speculate about what Tamiya is doing, I mpretty darn sure and if Im wrong then Im wrong but it makes sense and is logical that they make their car more care free. If they are smart and want some success here in the states they will follow a shaft driven design and incorporate all the things that made the 501/511 great in the handling dept.
You said you loved how it handled, true. But then you rant on about how hard it is to fix it when this thread isn't even about the 501x.

The thing i understand least is how you can say that the 501 handles great and then promote shaft drive when its belt drive is one of the key things that makes it handle so nice.

If people manage to get the car sorted with a diff cover, wouldn't it be a lot more logical for Tamiya to incorporate one into their design instead of changing the whole transmission line to shaft drive.

Personally i wouldn't be as interested in a new Tamiya 4WD if it was shaft driven.

But all this speculation is indeed pointless. We'll just have to wait and see.
