I assume you club runs touring cars then?
A TT-01 is a good car for learning to drive with as it's robust and handles well, but it will struggle to cope with any more power than the standard silvercan.
The Tamiya TA-05 is a shade more expensive but can compete with anything when upgraded. Not sure what else is available in the mid-price range now! There are a couple of RTR cars around, Kyosho TF-5 readyset is possibly the best of the bunch.
Beyond that, you are in the realms of the carbon/alloy cars like the Tamiya 416, TOP Photon, XRAY etc. Very expensive.
Or, you can go down the second-hand route. Much cheaper, but you run the risk of buying a car with hidden damage that you may never find. If you are new to the class, I always recommend buying new.
