I just sold my cougar as im moving abroad, what a fantastic car it was tho, for a novice driver like myself never failled to put a smile on my face. i think the reliabilty issues were a shame, but i think its like this throughout any industry, i raced motorbikes for years tried different things and every time you opt for something british or european it would do certain things amazingly, but usually be maintainence heavy, expensive and unreliable. moral of this story is if you enjoy the building and repairing as much as the racing then you will be fine, however if you want something to be right first time and everytime with perfect build quality and good longevity then go for the big japanese manufacturing company every time, not only do they get it right, they prob have hundreds and hundreds of thousands to spend in r+d. (not preeching just my opinion)
