Russ, could we get away with 1 pack of cells? Could it do two heats before recharging for the finals, or would you expect 2 packs are the best option?
Do you mean the FTX Lipo makes the car too fast? Surely your speed is limited by the tin can motor...? Electric's were never my strong point
I would prefer the LiPo route personally, but of course allow both options, as with the chassis, being able to run mini or caterham that would help mix it up a little as it sounds like there would be no real benefit to either.
