We used to use the ballisitic buggy minipin at Tiverton (hard packed dirt) but this tyre was only good when it was warm and hard, if it was cold or loose we would run proline step pin.
The ballistic buggy spike was actually ok on the loose stuff at tiverton but not to great on the hard packed bits.
We tried many times to find something that was not the "exotic" hard to get tyres but always ended up back with them.
In the UK Nationals Tiverton would always have it's own control tyres (PL step pin, BB minipin) even when the entire rest of the series ran Schumacher minispike and ballistic spike.
