Dave, I don't have a fix, but i can reassure you that you're not alone, I hade exactly the same problem at the weekend!! I'm only running an Orion Experience 2 in it (3940KW) too, nothing as powerful as a 3.5T!
I took it out for the first time on Sunday having just bought it from ebay but i'd not checked the diffs beforehand. After about 15 mins i noticed poor acceleration, thought it was the slipper but then had NO braking as the front is on a 1 way and found the rear diff was loose and just spinnning the axle.
I found the thread in the male diff outer for the thrust screw was cross threaded, so i've ordered a replacement. Now i'm not so sure that was the problem.
When i get the parts i'll get it all back together and let you know if i still have the same issues!
