This is what mine looked like after a couple of runs, the rubber oring is all but worn through, and I think the black dust over the gears is from the rubber.
The metal gears have odd marks on the teeth aswell as if they are not meshing cleanly. I've just ordered some orings and I'll give it a go at the weekend
(after this time glueing the pins in).
