From a standstill if the engine blows loads of smoke, poss even spitting oil from the pipe and sounds rough but then clears it's self as it gets going it's most lightly to ritch, if the bottom end is to lean the engine will be quite hard to start and most prob stutter or cut when throtel is applied from stand still as it is not getting enough fuel..
when setting an engine up there is a balance between the to needels, also when adjusting bottem end in most cases it will effect the idel setting
hope this helps a bit, but everyone has a diffrent take on setting engines up, I was once told that it's like learning to roll your own cigarets"the first 6 years are the worst"
