You may be onto something mate.
Although the pulleys are identical, you can rotate them to either align or be offset. As you said, this isn`t made clear in the instructions. I cant see how it would make the layshaft appear to be bent but i will reassemble it with them aligned this time and see what happens !

Im sure there must be other 511 owners on here who havent noticed this too so maybe it will help others ....

As it is now after rotating the pulley nearest the threads by one notch on the splines ..... ( certainly looks better anyway :s )
