The Only think I see or Think the issue is. the Idler shaft the White gear sits on that spins the metal gear n diff. It has too much play and I think it shifts into a position that locks it and thus locks everything. That is my take on this
The 2 gears that I have discussed, are locking in 2 spots. I dont know why.
