It doesn't have to go into your receiver socket. You can connect it into the on/off switch of the speedo - see diagram attached. (note that where it says Rx 7.4v LiPo, you wire your booster) Also, you can wire the capcitor into the socket for your PT (both devices from one plug) that will free up a socket for the booster.
Avoid the Novak booster. There are many recorded problems with this booster, especially with the latest generation speedos. I strongly recommend the
RC Dynamics booster as it will deliver high current and is very reliable. HTH
